After a six and a half year absence, New Vintage a mainstay of the 90's national bluegrass scene has reformed with longtime singer songwriter Russell Johnson joining forces with guitarist Jon Stickley, and the songwriting duo of Alice Zincone and Rick Lafleur (on bass and banjo respectively).
Originally formed in 1989, New Vintage rose to national prominence in the 1990's. During that decade the band released five critically acclaimed projects, three for Pinecastle Records that were top 10 CD's on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey.
New Vintage is a sound that melds the finest qualities of traditional and contemporary bluegrass in a style that moves forward within the genre, progressing without ever losing sight of bluegrass roots. New Vintage is four musicians on a mission: the songs, voice, and the soul of mandolinist Russell Johnson, the razor-sharp guitar playing of Jon Stickley, the silky smooth vocals of Alice Zincone and the dynamic banjo of Rick Lafleur.
